A public memorial service culminating a commemorative day of study, service and community honoring the lives lost in the attack on October 27, 2018.
No registration is required.
The communal gathering will involve readings, instrumental music, video, prayers, and words around remembrance of the victims, repair of those still suffering, hope for the future, and a sense of solidarity.
The gathering will be shown on large audio/video screens outside in front of Soldiers & Sailors, should indoor seating be full.
Please be aware that in the interest of security, bags will be checked upon entering the building. Please arrive early.
There will be free parking available in Soldiers & Sailors parking garage and in the Teris Parking lot across the street. Street parking will also be free of course; however, please do not park on University Place as it will be reserved for media professionals and their crews. Thank you.
FREE PORT AUTHORITY BUS SERVICE
Thanks to the City of Pittsburgh’s Port Authority, all 61 and 71 bus routes in regular service will be FREE from approximately 3:00-7:00 PM (based on scheduled departure times).
Three large buses will run FREE trips from Murray Ave. and Loretta St. in Squirrel Hill, and through Shadyside to Oakland and return from Downtown as well as running regular service. Port Authority anticipates starting extra units no later than 3:00 PM and running 2-3 trips each in the hours leading up to the community gathering event. At the conclusion of the community gathering, all extra buses will drive from Downtown to Fifth and Bigelow and make an outbound trip to the same communities before ending the special service.
